Hario V60 Coffee Pour-Over Dripper

The Hario V60 dripper has become an iconic tool for coffee enthusiasts worldwide, revolutionising the way we enjoy a perfect pour-over. The Hario V60 dripper was first launched in 2005 as a way to achieve unparalleled precision in brewing. Its name, "V60," refers to its unique cone shape and 60-degree angle.

Its lightweight and durable design comes in various materials, including ceramic and plastic, ensuring there's a V60 for everyone. Whether you're brewing at home or on the go, its compact size makes it a convenient and stylish addition to your coffee routine.

How to brew with the Hario V60 dripper

Brewing with a Hario pour-over is a simple and easy process resulting in a clean, crisp coffee with enhanced flavours and aromas, perfect for highlighting the unique characteristics of your beans. If you are new to using a pour-over, just follow the below steps to kick start your pour-over journey.

Begin your brew

Step 1: To start, simply place a Hario V60 filter inside the Hario V60 dripper and set it over your mug or carafe. Drippers come in various sizes such as 01 and 02 with the main difference between them lies in their capacity. For example, the 01 is ideal for brewing 1–2 cups, while the 02 is designed to handle 1–4 cups.

Step 2: Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any paper taste and preheat the dripper. Discard the water.

Step 3: Grind your coffee beans to a medium-fine grind (similar to sea salt) and add the coffee grounds to the filter, ensuring they are level for even extraction.

Step 4: Start the bloom by pouring about twice the weight of coffee in water to saturate the grounds. Leave it to bloom for 30–45 seconds to allow the coffee to release trapped gases, enhancing flavour extraction.

Step 5: Pour the remaining water in a slow, circular motion, avoiding the edges of the filter. You should aim to maintain an even water level, adding small amounts at a time.

Step 6: Leave the water to fully drip through the coffee grounds for around 2.5-3 minutes. You can then remove the dripper and discard the filter and grounds.

Now enjoy the clean, aromatic, and well-balanced cup crafted with your Hario V60!

  • Plastic Hario V60 coffee dripper

Lightweight, durable, and more affordable, the plastic version is ideal for travel or everyday use. It heats up quickly and retains less heat, making it less consistent for precise brewing but convenient and portable.

  • Ceramic Hario V60 coffee dripper

Heavier and more durable, the ceramic version excels in heat retention, helping maintain stable brewing temperatures for a more consistent extraction. It’s a stylish choice for home use and comes in a host of colours.
